Care that
starts with
the family.
Preventative, paediatric and surgical dentistry for the whole household — under one roof, with two specialists who actually listen.
Preventative first
Catch problems early, treat them gently, and stop them coming back. Every visit teaches you and your family how to stay out of the chair.
Two doctors, one practice
Dr Ambrose & Dr Rajkumar bring paediatric, preventative, cosmetic and surgical expertise to a single chair. No referrals between rooms.
Special-needs friendly
Calm, patient paediatric care for children with Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, SPD, ADHD and sensory differences — built into our practice, not added on.
Hours that fit life
Saturday appointments, after-school slots, and a nursing station for breastfeeding mothers. The practice runs around your week.
Two specialists. One practice.
Dr Shauntel Ambrose and Dr Kavir Rajkumar run Ambrose Dental together — bringing complementary expertise to every chair.
Dr Shauntel Ambrose
Founder · Paediatric & Preventative LeadDr Ambrose has built her career around preventative and paediatric dentistry, with a particular focus on supporting children with special needs and complex care requirements. She is also the host of Behind a Smile, a podcast on dental health, family wellbeing and the realities of dentistry behind the scenes.
Dr Kavir Rajkumar
Partner · Oral Surgery & Cosmetics LeadDr Rajkumar earned his Diploma in Oral Surgery with Cum Laude distinction. He leads the practice's surgical and cosmetic work — including extractions, wisdom teeth, implant-supported dentures, nitrous oxide sedation, teeth whitening, TMJ management and clenching/grinding care.
Whole-family dentistry, done properly.
Six core services covering every age, every concern, every chair. Each one informed by years of focused expertise from one of our two specialists.
Care that catches problems before they start.
Routine check-ups, professional cleanings, fluoride and fissure sealants for kids, oral health education for the whole family. We also run school holiday prevention programmes and visit local schools.
A first visit that doesn't feel like a first visit.
Dr Shauntel Ambrose holds a Diploma in Paediatric Dentistry and has a special interest in supporting children with Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Sensory Processing Disorder, ADHD, acid reflux and eating disorders. The practice is built around child-friendly rooms and a nursing station for parents.
Subtle changes, confident smiles.
Dr Kavir Rajkumar leads cosmetic work — composite refinements, professional teeth whitening, and natural-looking restorations. The goal is always a result that looks like you, only refreshed.
Extractions, wisdom teeth, implants.
Dr Rajkumar holds his Diploma in Oral Surgery with Cum Laude distinction. From routine extractions to broken or impacted wisdom teeth, and implant-supported dentures — handled in-house with surgical precision and a calm chair-side manner.
Jaw pain isn't something you have to live with.
Clicking, grinding, headaches at the temples, muscle tension that won't shift. Dr Rajkumar manages TMJ disorders and orofacial pain with proper diagnosis first, splint therapy, and habit-modification plans that actually work.
For patients who need a calmer route in.
Nitrous oxide sedation ("happy gas") for anxious patients, longer procedures, or children who need extra support. Safe, well-monitored, and you stay fully conscious throughout. You leave feeling normal — we just made the visit easier.
Behind a Smile
with Dr Shauntel Ambrose
Dr Ambrose hosts a podcast on the everyday reality of dentistry — patient stories, family health, dental anxiety, special-needs care, and what actually happens behind the chair. Available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Buzzsprout.
Built around real families.
Ambrose Dental was built on a simple idea: that good dental health doesn't begin in a chair — it begins at home, in childhood, and in how comfortable a family feels asking questions. So we built a practice that feels like a place you'd actually bring your kids back to.
Working parents get Saturday slots and after-school appointments. Breastfeeding mothers get a private nursing station. Children with sensory differences get a paediatric-trained dentist who knows their world. And every patient — from the toddler's first visit to the grandparent's implant consult — gets the same calm, preventative-first approach.
- Family-first preventative dentistry across all ages
- Specialist paediatric care for children with special needs
- Flexible hours including Saturdays & after-school slots
- Nursing station for breastfeeding mothers
- School outreach & dental health education programmes

Yes. Dr Shauntel Ambrose holds a Diploma in Paediatric Dentistry and has a special interest in caring for children with Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Sensory Processing Disorder, ADHD, acid reflux and eating disorders. Yes — we run Saturday appointments and after-school slots specifically so that working parents and school-going children don't have to take a day off for a check-up. WhatsApp us on +27 81 707 4970 to find the slot that fits your family's week.
Nitrous oxide ("happy gas") is a safe, well-monitored form of inhalation sedation that helps anxious patients and children get through a procedure feeling calm and comfortable. You stay fully conscious the whole time. Dr Kavir Rajkumar provides nitrous oxide sedation in-practice, and the effects wear off shortly after the visit ends so you can go on with your day.
Yes. Dr Rajkumar holds his Diploma in Oral Surgery with Cum Laude distinction and handles most extractions, broken teeth and wisdom teeth on-site. Complex cases that require a hospital setting are referred with full coordination from our side — you won't be left to figure it out alone.
Yes — TMJ management, orofacial pain and clenching/grinding (bruxism) are core focus areas for Dr Rajkumar. We start with a proper diagnosis, then walk you through splint therapy and habit modification. Many patients are surprised how much better headaches, jaw tension and ear discomfort feel once the cause is properly treated.
